Ervia is the commercial semi-state multi-utility company responsible for the delivery of Ireland’s national gas and water infrastructure and services that underpin the growth of the Irish economy.

Ervia delivers gas and water services through its operating companies, Gas Networks Ireland and Irish Water. It also provides dark fibre broadband infrastructure through its business Aurora Telecom. A state company with over 40 years ‘experience, Ervia has a proven track record developing and maintaining critical infrastructure and delivering national projects on behalf of the people of Ireland. Ervia is an indigenous Irish company with over 1,600 direct and 5,700 indirect employees and provides services to 1.7 million customers.

Gas Networks Ireland is part of Ervia.

Our core purpose is to ensure that over 673,000 homes and businesses receive a safe, efficient and secure supply of natural gas, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

We own, operate, build and maintain the natural gas network in Ireland and connect all customers to the network.

Irish Water

Safeguard your water

Irish Water is the national water utility responsible for providing and developing water services throughout Ireland.

Incorporated in July, 2013 as a company under the Water Services Act 2013, Irish Water brings the water and wastewater services of the 31 local authorities together under one national service provider. Irish Water is now responsible for the operation of all public water and wastewater services including:

  • Management of national water and wastewater assets
  • Maintenance of the water and wastewater system
  • Investment and planning
  • Managing capital projects
  • Customer care and billing

Irish Water is also responsible for all of the capital investment decisions and implementation of the capital programme delivery across the country.


The Board of Ervia consists of the Group Chief Executive Officer and ten non-executive members who are appointed by the Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government.

The Ervia Management Team, headed up by the Group Chief Executive Officer, is responsible for the day to day management of the company.
